My name is Katie and I'm a busy mum of two gorgeous and highly energetic girls. Barley designs is an evolution of designs created in my head over the past few years.

Faced with a supporting role in my husbands cancer diagnosis when my youngest was just six months old I turned to creativity as way to comfort and heal, finding solace in nature and joy and inspiration in bright contrasting colours and patterns. Being superstitious by nature, I became obsessed by magpies, searching out two to show me everything would be ok, as per the old adage.

An idea was sparked within me to create joyful and hopeful art prints, often incorporating these birds, for other people going through difficult times. A piece of artwork to hang on the wall to inspire and uplift. Perhaps a gift for someone else going through a difficult time when you don't know what to buy them.

As my business has evolved over time I have realised my love for word play, whilst also drawing huge inspiration from my children - so alongside the hope prints you will find prints for kids, mindful prints (my background as a yoga teacher) and prints to bring you joy.
